Salo Farm 08.07.2021

It's fall y'all! At least for a little while longer, even if the weather reports forecast the possiblly of a bit of snow this weekend. But the warm days and crisp nights over the last few weeks have provided some gorgeous sights around SALO FARM. Will be busy with numerous projects as we head into the Holiday/Winter season including more refurbishment of the LOFT house, prep work for Spring 2021 build blitz of off-grid micro cabins, along with a few other surprises. The next e-newsletter with details will be sent in the coming weeks. Visit www.salofarm.com to join the mailing list and to inquire about the Summer 2021 rental season. Stay well, stay safe, stay vigilant...

It's been a while since the last update from SALO FARM but, despite the pandemic, things have been quite active around here. During the summer SALO FARM provided socially distanced housing for a socially distanced workshop for Mettawee River Theatre Company as well as hosting a few other capacity-limited rentals. And there has been plenty of time to complete a few other major projects around the property for guests to enjoy next year. But before we get to those, how about ano...ther virtual walk through the surrounding woods of SALO FARM? It's a little treat for those that have been deprived of nature for the past 8 months, or a little extra dessert for those lucky enough to get away this summer. Similar to the April 20 post, the virtual walk starts at the pond entrance of the West Trail, connecting to the upper loop (Liz's Lane), then to the Darfler Lane Connector, and then to the lower trail (Kim's Crossing), ending with a sweeping view from the southeast corner of the lawn. Be sure to check out the 2 new bridges, a few photo bombs by some camera-loving insects, and the fantastic early autumn colors starting to emerge from the lush green of summer (a stark contrast from the bare trees last spring). It's about 20 minutes long, so grab a drink and/or snack, sit back and enjoy! Stayed tuned for more updates, and be sure to visit www.salofarm.com for more information and booking inquiries for the Summer 2021 season. In the meantime - be well, be safe, be vigilant. See more

The veggies are growing beautifully despite the drought, and more work completed on the studio exterior as this summer continues to be as productive as possible. Even started work on unearthing the two upper terraced ponds, filled in by years of downward silt flow. It will be a while before fully restored, but looking forward to a time when these gems are back in working order! Adjusting to the collective new normal, also pleased to be hosting a socially distanced limited participant workshop/retreat at the end of this month, taking advantage of SALO FARM's multiple houses for private individual space and ample outdoor area to gather and create. There still plenty of time left this summer, visit www.salofarm.com for more information if you or someone you know would be interested in setting something up!

Although the pandemic has been rather inconvenient for large group events and retreats at Salo Farm so far this summer, improvements continue (thanks to Liz, Claire, and Ted for assist on recent Studio exterior makeover!), the property is still abundant with summer blooms and veggies (thanks Kim!), and it was thrilling to have an annual visit by a Luna Moth (thanks Luna!). If you are interested in a late summer/early autumn socially distanced retreat or vacation stay (or if you want to do some early planning for next year), do get in touch to discuss possibilities - www.salofarm.com

Well Mother Nature sure has an interesting sense of humor! Only 10 days ago temps were on their way to the 70s, which enabled a lot of outdoor work including garden prep and creating a new major extension to the forest walking trails. But Friday night a late-season polar vortex blew in - leaving 7.5 inches of wind-swept, wet, heavy snow behind - which helped a tree weakened by beavers take down the power lines servicing SALO FARM. All good now with the efforts of a terrifi...c team from NYSEG amidst flurries all day Saturday, big thanks to them and all essential workers who continue to do their best in challenging times! As always, looking forward to seeing you at SALO FARM as soon as possible. Visit www.salofarm.com for inquiries / booking info. Be well, be safe, be vigilant. See more
