How To Eat Soup Dumplings 1. Uncover Take the cover off of the basket. If the dumplings are cooked properly, they will feel full and a little puffy. If they have not been cooked enough or for too long, the dough will be collapsed around the filling. 2. Let sit... Let the dumpling sit for about 60 seconds. After about 60 seconds, the skin of the dumpling starts to gelatinize and get tougher. The skins are pendulous and fragile more so than normal dumplings. 3. Prevent stick Make sure the dumpling does not stick to anything and try not to break the skin by mistake. There are three places it may stick: to another dumpling in the basket, to the side of the bamboo basket or to the chopstick. Dip your chopstick quickly in the vinegar before picking up the dumpling to avoid this possibility. 4. Pick up gently Grab the dumpling very gently, right beneath its knot. Use the knot to leverage pulling the dumpling out of the basket on all sides. You will be able to see the waterline or soup-line clearly. 5. First option for eating Option one for eating: Make a little hole on the dumpling's side with your chopsticks and let the juice run out onto the spoon before drinking it. 6. Let cool briefly Let the steam escape for a few seconds to cool the dumpling. 7. Enjoy! Slurp up the juice from the spoon and enjoy the dumpling!
