Thank you again to VOICE/CSEA for the grant! New toys will be on their way soon!! Here’s what I picked!!
Check out how much this girl has grown and accomplished! She is one of my 1st generation of home care children. So proud!!
This is awesome
Check this out if you have up all nighters!!
(I did not write this, but it’s dead on!) An Independent Childcare Provider I am an Independent Childcare Provider (ICP). This means I get to spend all day everyday with other people's children ... and then give them back! And they pay me for this!! I couldn't have chosen a more entertaining, educating or caring profession nor would I ever want to. ... But there's something most people don't realize. The day of an ICP doesn't start at 7:00am when you drop your child and end when you pick them up. Before you arrive we have made sure food, crafts, activities are all planned and ready to go at a moments notice. We need to be on our game each and every day, that means no late nights, hangovers, bad moods or 'personal' days. We sing to your babies, read to them play silly games. We dance like nobody's looking, run away from tickle monsters, we play hide & seek, battle dragons and look for shapes in clouds. We feed, nurture, teach & enlighten yours and 5 other children every day, tucking them in for naps and kissing their booboos away. We sometimes get a 2 hour break for naps but that 'break' is for cleaning up, preparing for the afternoon, dealing with personal business and in the spirit of 'work life balance' we actually take a moment to clear our heads. Our day does not end at 5:00pm when you have retrieved your child. After all children have departed daycare we remain to sanitize everything, sweep, vacuum, disinfect & empty all trash/diaper bins. We prepare home cooked meals for the next days lunch. We research, organize and cut out shapes for crafts (which takes a depressing amount of time) supplies for which are usually paid for out of pocket. Weekends are spent laundering bedding & stuffed animals, grocery Shopping for daycare snacks & meals, washing floors, cupboards & diaper bins, switching out books and toys so they won't get bored and decorating the space to keep it new and exciting. Additionally, most ICP's have families of our own that we also have to cook, shop, clean, bathe, check homework, play with and launder for before we get to sit down and take a breath. Just because I'm dressed in comfy clothes everyday know that my job is just as stressful (at times) and important as the one you drive to every morning. Childcare is so much more than throwing kids in front of a tv, it's hard and we're freaking tired(!)...but we wouldn't exchange it for the world
It’s that time of year again. Please do not medicate your child and send them to school or daycare just for the meds to wear off and still be contagious to others here is a good rule of thumb.
