GIFT show is continuing at the different location. Japanese potteries are truly beautiful when it is used, isn't it? Please come join us celebrating holidays! Food catering by chef @mai_shioyama Location: 97 3rd pl. Brooklyn, NY11231 We -SANNGA project- selected the beautiful pottery of Japanese artists for this special holiday season exhibit. One of the artists, Makoto Oki will join this exhibition from Kasama, one of the ceramic sites in Eastern Japan. Oki and three oth...er artists, Atsushi Funakushi, Kei Kondo, and Ryota Shioya participated in a group show in Brooklyn directed by Wa-porter in 2015. Since Oki started his artistic career as a metal-carving designer, his works have become like a harmony between the warmth of ceramics and the inorganic properties of metal. This harmony adds to his pottery a very novel texture. The other artists all have a very unique practice. They are not only stylish and elegant, but also functional! Please come and find your special someone an exquisite object from the authentic potters, a GIFT from Japan. FROM TODAY!!! We will exhibit UTSUWA SHOKEN collection. Mrs Shoken is a publisher and a curator who has produced many potters exhibition over 15 years. For this exhibition she selects more than 10 estimable potters and her brand new card book will show up!!! Please share this experience!!! USTUWA SHOKEN presentsUTSUWA KATACHI... SANNGA project@ Dai Ichi Arts Oct. 19th-23rd Monday-Friday: 10-7pm Saturday&Sunday: 12-6pm 18 East 64th street, Suite 1F, New York, NY10065 Tomoo Shoken is a gallerist based in Kamakura, KANAGAWA. She has been organizing numerous exhibitions to convey her philosophy of Utsuwa (vessel/container) to her audiences. Also, she has published art books and essays to spread the beauty of Japanese pottery that is used daily - not only inside Japan but also overseas. In this show, we are going to exhibit some of her artists. Especially, in her latest book, "UTSUWA KATACHI - Japanese Ceramics and Forms -," you will see the reason why she believes in the power of Utsuwa. We will also introduce her other books and cards. Please come stop by to witness her first show in North America! "Unlike mass produced crockery, for which the process of molding to firing is tightly controlled, the spontaneous ceramic form is momentary and fleeting. The particular clay or raw material used, the thickness and flow of the glaze, the condition of the kiln; and individual piece of pottery is dependent on a distinct balance between all of these factors, and no one piece is identical to another. As a result, every encounter with an utsuwa is said to be unique and a once-in-a-life-time experience." ----Shoken Tomoo Artists: Yaku Murakami Takuya Yokoyama Toru Hatta Soji Tsurumi Shimao Kiso Michikazu Sakai Atsushi Ogata Shingo Arakawa Yuji Muraki Teppei Ono Naotsugu Yoshida Daisuke Kameta Makoto Ishida Kazumi Yoshimura Shigeyoshi Morioka #sannganyc #sannga #japanesepottery #japanesecraft #sannganyc.net #teppeiono #onoteppei #atsushiogata #takuyayokoyama #naotsuguyoshida #yakumurakami #toruhatta #utsuwashoken #ashglaze #woodfiring #woodkiln #pottery # # # # #shingoarakawa #takuyayokoyama # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # #shimaokiso #makotoishida #toruhatta #sojitsurumi #michikazusakai #shigemorioka #shigeyoshimorioka
