The World of Horses is BETTER than ever at the Schoharie County Sunshine Fair. Come see the Donkey & Mule, Draft Horse, and the Sunshine Series English, Western and Driving shows. It wouldn’t be a county fair without livestock exhibits. Come see all the barn yard animals at the Schoharie County Fair. Watch the competitions, pet a cow, rub the head of a goat and speak with the proud owners of these animals. Livestock farming is woven into the fiber of Schoharie County. Come see Dennis Lee,one of today’s most dynamic entertainers. Over the last ten years, Dennis has performed in front of over 1 million people at countless events and state fairs where he and his band have opened for such superstars as Sheryl Crow, Lee Greenwood and the legendary Beach Boys. A native of Memphis, Tenn., the affable performer fills his show with the music of his idols Elvis Presley & Jerry Lewis. When the Dennis Lee Band goes on stage there are several songs they always sing An American Trilogy, God, Family & Country, which is the patriotic part of the show and dedicated to the men and women in our armed forces. This high energy show and interactive experience will keep fair goers coming back for more. Dennis and his band will have multiple performances daily in the Brown’s Ford Theatre August 10-15, 2021.

At the Schoharie County Sunshine Fair, the one thing you don’t want to miss is the Country Living Building where quilting, sewing, weaving, paintings, photography, floral design, and many other arts and crafts on display. These items are made by our neighbors enjoying some fun competing against each other for that blue ribbon. Come see how they did. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Schoharie County Sunshine Fair Volunteer Day, especially the Schoharie Central High School Varsity Club. It was a beautiful day to spruce up the grounds and close up the barns. We painted buildings, closed windows, cut down weeds and vines and moved equipment into winter storage. Pizza, cookies and drinks were enjoyed to celebrate a great day. Thanks for being a part of your county fairgrounds!

The Schoharie County Sunshine Fairgrounds Needs You! Come volunteer on September 26th from 9am to noon for our annual Clean Up The Fairground Day. We will be trimming the vines & hedges, closing up barns, putting away equipment, light painting and much more. Any garden or hand tools would be welcome. In light of the evolving COVID-19 situation, its impact on community health and well-being, the board has made the incredibly difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Schoharie County Fair until August 10-15, 2021. While the Fair’s mission is to provide an annual educational experience in agriculture, the health and safety of our patrons, volunteers and surrounding communities is our highest priority. So it became clear that postponement was the only choice after our team spent countless hours exploring every possible option. We look forward to brighter, better days ahead when we can gather again to celebrate all that is exceptional about Schoharie County. Until then, stay safe, be well.
