All of the articles submitted to the SHS Facebook page, including the most recent, The Great Conflagration of 1916 and the Death of John E. Goodwin, have been published simultaneously in the Oswego County News, and previously the Phoenix Register. Both newspapers have supported Schroeppel Historical Society with free and extensive coverage for many years, which has contributed greatly to the success of SHS fundraisers. Both papers have also carried the "Out of Our Past" colum...n by Barbara Dix, which she began writing in 2012. The Friday, September 25, 2020 issue of the Oswego County News, which carries the well-crafted and personalized Phoenix Fire article by David Moyer and Tom Luebermann appears in the "Out of Our Past" column (in the Sports section because of length) and is available in local stores this week, usually until Thursday. Contact the Oswego County News at 315-782-1000 or [email protected] for extra copies. See more

Author Schroeppel Historical Society Yesterday, September 23, 20209 was the 104th Anniversary of the Great Phoenix Fire. SHS is proud to have published the story of the Phoenix Fire by brothers David Moyer and Tom Moyer Luebermann both here and in today's edition of the Oswego County News. In addition to their research, the brothers had the unique perspective of having heard stories about the fire from their mother, Luella.
