We want to thank Ryan Hathaway @Hometown Electrical Systems LLC located in Elizabethtown for the donation of face shields! It is very much appreciated! They are also producing cloth masks and have been fundraising and working with a local manufacturer to provide face shields to medical staff in our region.

Schroon Lake Fire Laid to Rest a 50 Year Life Member Past Chief Don Whitty

Schroon Lake EMS wishes to join our surrounding communities expressing our deepest sympathy for the loss of Laurie Waters Fitzgerald. Laurie made everyday count. She was energetic, fun and the type of person you were drawn to. We send prayers to her family & friends and all of those who knew her. RIP Laurie your brothers and sisters have the watch.

Yes we train in the dark, in the cold and in the snow! Thank you SL Fire for the joint extrication drill! If you're interested in joining either service stop by the firehouse. We're always looking for new members.

2020 Trunk or Treat Schroon Lake Emergency Squad hosted the first annual Trunk or Treat two years ago. Thanks to the generosity of local business owners it has been a great success. Children and adults joined together to create a fun, social and above all safe event. The volunteer emergency squad recently held our monthly meeting and Trunk or Treat was discussed in great detail. It is our core value to care for the sick and injured of the great community we serve. Hosting an event such as Trunk or Treat would be in direct contradiction of this value. We regretful voted to cancel the Trunk or Treat for 2020 and plan for next years event to be bigger and better. Be safe & healthy!

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory until 8:00 pm on Sunday, 7/19. The heat index could reach up to 101 degrees. Stay safe in the heat: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out... of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
