Have a great Independence Day weekend as we celebrate America together! May the holiday be filled with common sense and the frequent exercise of good judgement :D
Your Scranton firefighters have gotten a little work lately assisting neighboring fire companies. Early this morning, Truck 6 was dispatched mutual aid to Newton Abbott Fire Company, Inc. for a kitchen fire. The homeowner had managed to knock the fire with a garden hose that he stretched in from outside before the first arriving units. Crews were overhauling the kitchen, determine the extent of fire spread in the walls and ceiling and extinguishing any remaining fire, when ...Scranton 6 was sent to the second floor to ventilate. Significant smoke accumulation was forcibly ejected from the windows with an electric fan. Previously, a few days ago, Scranton Engine 2 responded to assist Lake Shore Volunteer Fire with a vehicle fire that was threatening the adjacent residence. E2 stretched two 1.75 hand lines and extinguished the fire, while ensuring there was no extension to the house. Favorable winds had directed the heat from the porch back into a tree, which lost a few limbs. Fire protection is a team activity that involves mutual aid from surrounding companies on a regular basis. We help them, and they help us. If you’ve ever harbored an interest in joining us, shoot us a message! The volunteer fire service is a great way to serve your community, make friends, and enjoy some hard work and adventure.

As everyone knows, volunteer fire fighters have regular jobs in addition to fire fighting. One of Scranton's newer firefighters is working a summer job that took him out west. He is fighting wildfires in Colorado. Rob Nori served as a Marine, joined Scranton Fire, and is now finishing his wildland fire training this week and is then being sent to the front line. He is working in 110* F temps at 1% humidity. We are all wishing him a safe return this fall. These pictures are of a wildland fire's smoke one state away from him in Moab Utah at a distance of 75 miles. If you see the smoke 75 miles away, it's big.
Keep your home and family safe from fire; water your live tree daily!
It’s always the season for safety! Reduce fire risk by replacing worn or damaged decorative lighting.
The season’s first decent snow brought the season’s first vehicle fire, which fortunately was in a parking lot. Plenty of space meant no risk to other property. No one was injured.
Thank you for an awesome night in the fire district! If you missed us, we apologize. Here's a few videos we hope you like!
Santa is almost done in the presidential neighborhood and will be going to strand apartment and Washington square apartments than back to the hall. I hope everyone everyone has a good holiday!
