Our methods of collaboration have shifted in the past year in order to keep our artists and teachers safe. But the importance of working together, sharing inspiration, and discussing the creative process remains a big part of both our online and our in-person classes. In our Summer Camp Program, artists will have their own personal workspace and supplies to create with. But that won't keep us from learning how to collaborate with and inspire one another along the way. Let us introduce your child to the uniquely expressive art of FASHION DESIGN in a summer camp like no other! In Dobbs Ferry this August, we’ll explore the entire fashion design process. First, we will glean inspiration from the world around us, then sketch those concepts onto mood boards, and finally, create small-scale models of our designs onto hand-painted wooden mannequins. We’ll also explore sculptural form and pattern through jewelry design and create mixed-media a...ccessories using dying and hand-sewing methods! We have only TWO spots left, so act fast! +=Our online early childhood classes are returning this summer with a little twist: a once-a-week class format with the flexibility of DROPPING IN! Your toddler or preschool artist will explore printing, drawing, collage and sculpture with high quality materials and a teaching approach that promotes experimentation, creativity, problem-solving, visual literacy and language development. Each class will start with a story that relates to the project, then a game that encoura...ges using descriptive language to talk about the materials we’ll be using, and finally, open-ended and focused art making. Registration (including drop ins) includes a complete materials kit for the 10-week session. Classes are on Tuesdays at 10am 6/29-8/31. To sign up, go to www.scribbleartworkshop.com/online-2021early-childhood, or click on the Online Early Childhood button in our profile link.
SCRIBBLER SPOTLIGHT! Rebekka is an extremely experimental artist. Throughout our class project, Creative Cartography, she wasn't afraid to play with the concepts of space and distance in her map. For her, it was less about the geographical correctness and more about mapping her understanding of the world around her. Her artwork is both the result of careful attention to detail as well as her ability to let loose and have fun with composition and color. Her map did a wonderful job at taking us around her city and highlighting her favorite spots. Thanks Rebekka!
It's called FA-SHION. Look it up. We are in love with these vibrant and intricate designs created by some of our talented fashion designers. And guess what?! There are only TWO spots left in Fashion Design Summer Camp in Dobbs Ferry, so click on the link in our profile to snag your spot ASAP!... More about the artwork: For this project, artists dyed fabric, designed outfits, and dressed their mannequins. Each artist also came up with the name and style of their mannequin that reflected their unique artistic vision. Pretty amazing, right? Dear Inwood and larger Scribble community, I am writing to let you all know that we have made the difficult decision of permanently closing our Inwood studio. In order to protect our families, our teachers, our staff and the wider communities in which we operate, we have decided to offer only online classes until the foreseeable future, namely until a vaccine is widely available. This decision, coupled with the continued costs of maintaining 2 brick and mortar locations whils...Continue reading
Meet Eliana. She is our FIRST Scribbler spotlight. Here’s what you need to know about Ellie, the artist. Eliana is 8 years old. She is the only one in her family (of 8!) to speak French and she has her own Instagram page @ellie_the_artist8 where she documents all her art making from laying out her materials, to working with them and finally (of course) to matting, framing and hanging her finished pieces. Here's what her Scribble teacher @matias__ano...n says about her: Eliana is an artist who time and time again demonstrates fluency with a wide range of materials, always managing to make them work in a way that is uniquely her own. She demonstrates a willingness to experiment and work in new ways that are often unpredictable, while still always attaining a level of refinement that can only be achieved by an artist who has a clear vision and is capable of thinking on their feet.
