I will be at my humble 1 Times Sq. post Thursday afternoons in August arranging funny, informative four-hour walking tours of the outer boroughs. Let's eat some Indian, Chinese, Ethiopian food together when we eventually tour. One of the most horrifying, un-American things that developers do to bring wealthy tenants into a neighborhood is to give orders to maintenance people to withho...ld repairs, even if they know the tenants work hard, try to pay their bills on time, and act personably. They do this, because a high-rent luxury unit will replace the tenement, and tenants rarely fight this. I see this all the time in Harlem, now even the South Bronx. Nobody does anything about it. I've seen nice families that I know get evicted...nobody, and those people who I know, included...do much about it.
