Anterior Open Bite: When upper and lower front teeth don’t come together when the mouth is fully closed. Common occurrence in part due to habits like tongue thrusting and/or thumb sucking. Habits must be resolved earlier on to prevent negative sequela which may even lead to surgical treatment in order to correct an anterior open bite. An easier treatment would have been to extract it and substitute right canine for lateral incisor, however, this treatment may lead to future prosthetic and esthetic problems for the patient. This post applies for those of you who are in Invisalign treatment or are considering starting one. At some point in time your orthodontist should go over about one of the negative side effects of not being compliant with wearing your aligner trays. There are two reasons why most Invisalign treatments fail #1) Orthodontist didn’t predictably plan the treatment out #2) Patient failed to wear the trays as prescribed by an orthodontist. What the image shows is an ill fitting U...pper Invisalign tray. Spaces, saliva bubbles and separation of an aligner from the the teeth is an indication that the trays are no longer fitting well, hence, movement that they are supposed to impart is compromised. Common resolution for this problem is to retake the impressions for a midcourse correction basically starting from zilch. Invisalign trays are recommended to be worn at least 22 hrs per day for predictable results.
