PLEASE SHARE ASAP TO THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BEEN RIDING THEIR SNOWMOBILES ON THE GREAT SACANDAGA LAKE TODAY AND TONIGHT: GET OFF THE LAKE ASAP IT IS EXTREME...LY UNSAFE. IN PARTS THERE IS ONLY A DUSTING OF SNOW ON TOP OF LESS THAN A QUARTER INCH OF ICE. NOT ONLY ARE YOU JEOPARDIZING YOUR LIVES BUT THE LIVES OF THE FIRST RESPONDERS WHO WILL HAVE TO RESPOND. GET OFF THE LAKE SO YOU'LL BE AROUND FOR CHRISTMAS. IF ONE OF YOU GOES THROUGH THE ICE THE OTHERS WILL FOLLOW AND THE TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER WILL INCAPACITATE YOU IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES.

Over the past several days area Fire Departments have been dispatched to smell of gas and smell of propane calls in and around the City and Town of Johnstow...n. The source that has been causing this persistent odor has been located. The odor is actually being caused by a large pile of material that is being used for fertilizer. The pile is currently smoldering due to the decomposition of the material. The owner has been made aware and is working to remedy the situation. NYSDEC has also been notified. See more

****PLEASE SHARE**** We will be hosting TRUNK OR TREAT at the Sir William Johnson Fire Department this year. Saturday, October 31st from 6pm-8pm... Hope to see all the kiddos in costume. With little time to plan due to covid-19 rules and what not this year is just strictly trunk or treat next year in hopes of no more virus we shall put on some activities for the kids and what not! SAVE THE PLACE!! Can't wait to see all the costumes!

A Tornado Watch has just been issued for the entire forecast area until 10pm EDT. This includes the entire Capital District. Main threats include the potential for tornadoes, scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph, and isolated large hail.
