Dr. Goodman and Psychology major Emily Burt are conducting a survey study to assess how the Spring 2020 shift to remote emergency instruction has impacted student perceptions of online learning. We’re looking for participants for this study! Students who: - are at least 18 years old... - were enrolled in in-person undergraduate courses during Spring 2020 - transitioned to online instruction during the Spring 2020 term are eligible to participate! The survey takes less than 45 minutes, and participants can enter to win one of several $25 Amazon gift cards for their involvement. You can read the full posting and find the link to the survey here: https://sggoodman.com/s20survey/ Reposting and sharing are encouraged and appreciated! Please send to anyone and everyone who may be eligible, or who may know students who are eligible for participation. Any and all colleges, departments, and majors are welcome.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a wonderful organization that serves individuals with mental illness and their families. Every year, they put on a fundraiser called NAMIWalks. On the one hand, the current crisis makes the timing of this year's fundraiser pretty lousy. But, in another way, the timing is perfect. The mental health implications of the crisis will be extraordinary and people will need lots of support. If you're able to donate, any amount would be appreciated!

A helpful perspective written by a friend of the department, Alexis Conason: "It’s been 20 days since I since left my house. In that time, I have not learned a new language, implemented a new fitness routine, read the countless books sitting in my Kindle library, or started the online course that I bought with the best of intentions earlier this year. Instead, I have spent much of the past few weeks in a state of shock, grappling with the enormity of what is happening in our... world and the more mundane challenges of working from home while homeschooling my preschooler and being on baby patrol with my newly mobile infant. Check out my latest for Psychology Today about why there is no "right" way to cope with a global pandemic. It's okay if all you are doing is surviving."
