When people ask me about why I think art is so important there are just so many ways to respond. Origami is just 1 of 1,000 reasons -- and is now included as one of our monthly HAPPINESS Art Box activites. Last month in our Seasonal Art Box we created a paper pinwheel as a Christmas ornament. This was our introduction to the most basic Origami activity I know of. I'm hoping that you will join me in these monthly challenges, and share them via Instagram @happinessartboxnyc. Origami is not meant to be mastered in a day! Your children will need to keep practicing the same activity over and over. The problem solving skills that develop from this practice are invaluable! I started writing 17 affirmations in May when my COVID despair was at it's worst -- and I 100% believe this is what pushed me through. I sat at my kitchen table and rewrote all of the affirmations... until I got tired. Even if I wasn't believing it in the moment it was in my mind and I truly believe it pushed me through!! If the grey winter is starting to get to your head put on some WHAM!, rock a dance party and write out 10 awesome daily affirmations!! You'll be seeing rainbows in no time!

A little Holiday ornament activity made from recycled children's art! This was recorded from our days at SHASTYE (how time flies!) This is an excellent fine motor skill activity that can be done with children 3 years and older. Enjoy!
