Honored to have The Vidro named in the top 10 of Fast Company magazine’s Most Innovative Architecture Projects of 2020. Our key innovation at The Vidro was the creation of a strategy for small lot development where truly design adds-value, making new multifamily residential buildings viable on difficult sites where traditional development strategies typically fail. Completed last year, this 5,600sf mental health clinic in Brooklyn for CCM provides culturally sensitive social support services to at-risk families in NYC. Using design-based strategies derived from CCM’s mission and therapeutic methodology, we created a safe, calm and inclusive environment for treatment to occur.

What is the future of workplaces? We're currently leading a team through the AIANY's Unified Covid-19 Taskforce that's tackling this challenging issue for Small Businesses. These pictures are from the NYC office expansion we designed for @birchbox in 2014 when they were experiencing explosive growth. We had sought to create a series of informal work spaces like this one which contained a semi-open outward facing lounge #nook at the front, and a semi-private inward facing meeting area at the rear intended for brainstorming and other less formal uses. Looking back on this now, could this point towards the future of #offices - with more open, democratic spaces containing a variety of areas to work each providing varying degrees of enclosure, privacy & space?

A continuous line of structural wood glu-lam beams become a railing for the city council chambers at our City Hall project on the West Coast in University Place, WA. As a public project with a limited funds we had to be creative & resourceful to make the most with each element. The following images show this continuous line of structure during construction as it wraps around the public atrium and council chambers and then makes a double cantilever to form the street level entry. Innovative design regardless of budget and resources.

During difficult times like these, the importance of non-profit organizations like CCM supporting their community is crucial. CCM has helped over 100,000 New Yorkers build healthy, stable, and enriched lives for their clients and the communities they serve. Our design at their new Clinton Ave Clinic in Brooklyn fosters these ideals by creating an inclusive environment for these treatments to occur and we have been honored and humbled to help in their 30-year mission.

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Design Corps: Small Business Reopening Network a platform that connects under-resourced NYC restaurants with volunteer design professionals offering pro-bono services to help them re-open and stay open safely under NYC’s Open Restaurant program during this Covid-19 pandemic. As part of the AIANY’s Covid 19 Unified Task Force, for the past 2 months, we have been honored to be an integral team member working with @NYCEDC @NYCxDesign ...and @DesignAdvocates to bring this program to life and create the program’s training video.
