March 13 - 15, 2020 in NYC we complete our pumping series with the trunk and pelvi...s course, building upon our understanding of the relational anatomy and tensegrity biomechanics learned in lower and upper limb as it relates to the trunk and pelvis. . . During our first course on the lower limbs we discussed the classic Ankle sprain of the ATFL, and the consequences it can have ascending up the chain to the pelvis. We learned to effectively treat this simple classic sprain by not only focusing on the area of injury, but to follow the links to the knee, where we learned to address the lateral collateral ligament of the knee, the barkow ligament, the bicep femoris , Flabella-fibula ligament, and now we will complete our understanding of the relational anatomy and biomechanics as it pertains to the trunk and pelvis. FASCIA AND WHY FOAM ROLLING ONLY BARELY SCRATCHES THE SURFACE! Myofascial Release has become a popular term for the health industry in recent years. There are many types of massage therapies used but often it is packaged and sold in the form of a simple foam roller or tennis balls taped together to encourage "self" myofascial release. Foam rolling does have a place in therapy and is a useful tool for alleviating trigger points. But that's as far as it goes When you recognize ...the complexity of the fascia and it's continuum throughout the whole body not only for it's role in movement but also for it's involvement in the regeneration and healing of all cells by carrying out chemical processes to deliver nutrition and hormones within the tissues... myofascial release involves much more than just creating a compression on the skin surface. In fact, there is a much larger influence on improving the quality of the fascia and that's by bringing balance to the tensegrity model in which our bodies work. This is best achieved through the facilitation of the neurological system while creating tensions throughout the fascial chains in order to improve the fascia's ability to slide and respond both superficially and at the deeper levels. This is where ELDOAs and Myofascial Stretches are most successful in the treatment of the fascia. These self normalization techniques restore the functionality as well as the quality of this omnidirectional matrix. If you have 30 min... or even just 5... it's worthwhile to watch this video.
