We are taking every precaution to create an environment where you feel safe and comfortable receiving care. Please do not skip scheduled appointments and regular screenings with your care team. We have reduced our patient count daily, cleaning all surfaces in between patients, you will dilate in your own room, and we are taking all employees and patients temperatures upon arrival. If you have an eye medical diagnosis such as Glaucoma, Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, it is i...mperative you stay current with your care plan. Even with no vision changes, you could have complications in the back of the eye. Once the vision is impacted, it is often too late to reverse the loss in vision. Please trust your physician’s judgment; they are responsible for keeping your vision optimal. We would not ask you to come in unless you are higher risk for issues. Please call our office at 716-674-6030.

We are proud to offer a new treatment option for MGD. Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) is blockage or some other abnormality of the meibomian glands so they don't secrete enough oil into the tears. Because the tear film on the surface of the eye then evaporates too quickly, MGD is associated with dry eye syndrome. It also is connected with an eyelid problem called blepharitis. 716-674-6030... https://youtu.be/UqF2U0iuFbU

We are open for business at the Southtowns Eye Center, however the safety of our patients and our team is our highest priority. We spoke to the surgical center and all surgeries are still scheduled as planned. We understand there is a great deal of misinformation surrounding the Coronavirus, so we want to ensure we are keeping our patients up-to-date with the most accurate information. We want to emphasize that if you suspect you could have Coronavirus, please do not come to ...the office. You should call your doctor, at which time they will make the decision on how to best treat you. The New York State Department of Health and the Erie County Health Department recommend considering Coronavirus if the following criteria are reported: Fever (100.4 or higher) and symptoms of lower respiratory illness (e.g., cough, shortness of breath) and in the last 14 days before symptom onset had a history of travel in an effected geographic location or have been in contact with someone who has recently traveled in an effected geographic location. Fever and symptoms of lower respiratory illness (e.g. cough shortness of breath) and close contact with a person who is under investigation for 2019-nCOV (coronavirus) while that person was ill. Fever and symptoms of lower respiratory illness (e.g., cough shortness of breath) and in the last 14 days before symptom onset had close contact with an ill laboratory-confirmed 2019-nCoV (Coronavirus) patient. If you are experiencing flu and lower respiratory symptoms, we ask that you do not come into our offices. If you have a scheduled appointment, please call us to cancel. What can you do to protect yourself and others? Wash your hands! The best thing you can do to stop the spread of germs is wash your hands frequently. Hand washing should last no less than 20 seconds, or use an alchohol-based hand sanitizer. Use Lysol wipes at your work stations, to clean door handles, computer keyboards and other surfaces you are coming in contact frequently. Lysol kills the Coronavirus germs. Keep your hands away from your face and mouth.
