This Week Around St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral - October 16th
Thank you to those who cleared ALL pew cushions , kneelers, hymnals, prayer books and more on Sunday. We’re a step closer to offering indoor worship scheduled to begin on 11/15!
This series continues this evening at 7 via Zoom! "Prophets and Protests" This evening's topic: Chosen People : Refugees, integration and equality in the experimental Kingdom of God.... Email [email protected] for log-in information. This hour-long formation experience will be led by Professor John Snodgrass. When we think of the "Old Testament Period" in Israel it's easy to imagine that everyone had the same scriptures/Law and so there must have been broad agreement. But in that time, like our own, there was a great deal of disagreement about how Law should be applied to everyday life (and in particular a lot of disagreement about whether leaders could be above the Law). This three-part course will deepen our understanding of that historical period by looking at parallels with our own. Each session will be a complete lesson, so members are invited to attend one, two or all three. Bio: John Snodgrass is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary, teaches religion courses at Canisius College, and is the author of Genesis and the Rise of Civilization, and Turning the Tables: Farming and Feeding in the Gospels. He is a son of an Episcopal priest, and lives in Buffalo with his wife and their four children.
