And Whitesboro baseball is on

But did you listen? And when you do that Take a moment and think about something you missed this season. ... Maybe it was playing time because of an injury Maybe it was speed on the field, or strength and power in the weight room. Maybe it was a PR that was just out of reach. Maybe it was trying to balance school, sports and life, day after day. We’ve been there, too. So, let’s do something about it!!! - We have 4 new training tiers - 2 tiers offer recovery like compression and cryo - Our top tier has dedicated 1:1 speed programming - We have a brand new facility designed completely around sports - We have all the rehab tools you need to get healthy and back training smart this summer

Since 2021 is already off to an exciting start, we thought to take some time and reflect on the past year. As we reflect, we realize what has mattered the most to us. This is the support that we have received from every member of our community. Every organization, athlete, and patient who has been through this journey with us over the past year. This video is for you, and for everyone who has supported us into the new year.

We have met a lot of people and built a lot of relationships over the past 6 years but the past 3+ years working with Valley Gymnastics has by far been the most rewarding. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to helping your gymnasts stay performing at their top level for many years to come.

Tips for how to shovel and not get hurt 1: Find someone else to do it (key) 2: Get some easy squats going and practice engagement of core musculature (think TA, Deep paraspinals) see previous posts for details 3: Maintain good foot position and center your mass equally between both feet... 4: Hinge at the hip and keep the shovel close to the hips (don’t reach) 5: Use 1 arm as a fulcrum and the other as the lever 6: Scoop smaller amounts, walk it over, then dump. Don’t throw it. 7: Help your neighbor, friend, spouse, etc. Two shovels are better than one. See more

This is a huge misconception about what is best for the athlete. In the sports medicine world it is important to continue treating our athletes during every phase of an injury. Acute: work on pain control and mobility, sub-acute: introduce tissue loading and strengthening, return to play: exactly how it sounds! Keeping the athlete engaged mentally is often overlooked and needs to happen immediately. That is best accomplished by keeping them around other athletes. So the next time you are told to just rest, really question whether that’s the best option for you.

Check out this seemingly simple exercise to target the much neglected lower trapezius. This exercise is more difficult to perform correctly than it seems and can be very fatiguing. The upper trapezius is a crucial muscle in helping dynamically stabilize the shoulder blade and assist it with properly moving when we raise our arms overhead. ... Check out our Instagram post for some more info on the lower trapezius Give your lower traps some much needed love with this exercise today.

Nutrition and Fitness, two the of the most saturated industries in todays world. We could talk all day on the importance of nutrition education and putting the right things into your body. BUT, it can be hard to find the right resources, and harder even to fully trust a person or program. On a daily basis, in our line of work, we see people offering and selling information with questionable credibility. We value above all, Evidence Based Practice, Expertise, and Product Quali...ty. Natalie Robertello holds her bachelors and masters degrees in nutrition; was an intern at University at Buffalo working with D1 athletes; and is Board Certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics. Needless to say, there are nutritionists, and then there’s Natalie. We learned so much, and we hope you do too.

What a blast we had talking to Josh and Ben from The Sneaker Store! Things we learned and hope you take away as well: 1) How to get in shape for any sport... 2) Training program of the modern runner 3) The craziest looking shoes might actually make you faster 4) Makers Mark is also a truth serum 5) How Mike Jarmak ran a 75 minute boileramker Also, this year, The Sneaker Store celebrates 40 years of business. Certainly, an accomplishment for any business large or small. We, as small business owners, are grateful for a community that has continuously supported our friends at The Sneaker Store. They play a large part in our fitness community and maintain a dedication to the service of others. If you are curious as to the secret of their success we highly recommend you pay them a visit. As always, thank you for watching!

Welcome back to the SPI Podcast!!!! Outdoor training is difficult, especially in upstate NY. First, it seems like an eternity of winter, next we get two weeks of spring, and finally we get to summer. Hot, Humid, trying to pack in as much training as we can to take advantage of the nice weather. ... When pushing yourself to compete at a high level in any sport, injury is always a risk. Returning from that injury to the same level of competition is challenging, and takes significant patience. Today we have two athletes, Ryan Enos and Matt Parkinson, who have been able to come off their injuries and return to playing baseball in two very respectable collegiate baseball programs. Want to know how they did it? Start watching.... You get out what you put in, nothing more, nothing less.
