Square Roots 04.01.2021

2020, hello 2021! 2020 was a wild year, but throughout it all, we’re continuously thankful to our dedicated farm teams for keeping us growing local food, safely all year round.

Square Roots’ microgreens are so much more than a pretty garnish. They add crunch, flavor, and nutrition to everyday dishes. Find them in stores: https://squarerootsgrow.com/find_us/

In early June, in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, we formed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Team and listed a number of steps we were taking to become an anti-racist company. And while what we’re doing now is undoubtedly too late, our team is committed to putting in the time and effort to do the work. Key projects we've been working on include: - Improving and streamlining our recruitment practices through the lens of racial equity. - Engaging with the l...ocal communities where we operate and providing all employees with volunteer paid time off (separate from existing PTO). - Creating opportunities for empowerment and education for employees through Employee Affinity Groups, town halls, manager trainings, insight lunches, and making technology more accessible across the company. - Reviewing benefits and compensation across the company and enhancing our benefits offerings. All employees are paid a living wage and accrue paid time off, and all full-time employees receive full company-paid benefits and are offered equity in the company. Additionally, early on this summer, we identified the need to bring in perspectives not represented by our team. We also determined that this work would be most successful with the support of an impartial third party with expertise in this field. Beginning in Q1 2021, we'll be working with a DEI practitioner who will conduct a Racial Equity and Belonging Audit to help us identify and remedy blind spots and help us incorporate DEI practices into our culture. We have so much more work to do and this is only the beginning, but if you want to learn more about our work on diversity, equity, and inclusion, you can read more on our blog. https://squarerootsgrow.com//Update-Square-Roots,-Diversit
