31 Days of Giving Challenge Day 31- We made it!!! Today's challenge is to leave a note of hope or encouragement for 2021 in a public place like the grocery store or gas station or even on your personal Facebook page. Let's all end this year and start the next with at least a sliver of positivity to hold on to.
New Year, New Challenges! The first Wellness Challenge Wednesday of 2021 is a 1 minute timed challenge. 1 push-up+1 air squat, 2 push-ups+2 air squats, 3 push-ups+3 air squats, you get the idea. The member with the most reps will win a YMCA Coffee Cup! Just stop by the Wellness floor desk and tell the Coach you're ready to take the challenge! #WCW #srymcawilton #newyearnewchallenges
31 Days of Giving Challenge Day 11- Pay for a pizza (or wings, or subs, or a cookie platter etc...) to be delivered to local first responders of your choice. Whether that's your local volunteer fire company, or EMT's, or you drop a plate of cookies off to the nurses at your doctor's office. Today take a few minutes to acknowledge and thank those that put themselves on the front lines for the rest of us (with or without an ongoing pandemic).
2021 is approaching quickly! Here are our holiday hours for New Year's Eve & New Year's Day.
31 Days of Giving Challenge Day 10-Donate a toy to your local community center or toy drive! Maybe your kids have a few toys laying around like mine did that they never used but are perfectly usable for another child? Or maybe you pick out an extra gift while shopping this year. Either way, please consider helping out a child whose family may be struggling this year to fulfill their wish lists.
The pandemic has presented tremendous challenges for our nonprofit organization, but the YMCA remains committed to serving our community Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow FOREVER! YESTERDAY: We took action to serve by... Collecting 20,000+ pounds of food and hygiene products for those in need. Providing childcare and summer camp for families who needed to return to work, with peace of mind.... Conducting wellness checks on seniors and helping them remain active through virtual workouts, with over 10,000 total logged. TODAY: We crafted a new plan To provide students with supervised educational support during virtual learning through our new, full-day program. For the return of socially distant and safe youth programs. To continue wellness activities both in person and virtually. TOMORROW: We will reconnect Our Active Older Adults by decreasing social isolation through new engagement opportunities. All ages with our new virtual platform as we continue to enhance and create opportunities for all. Our community, by continuing to be there for those who need us most. Serving is our privilege, but the pandemic has impacted our financial ability to do so: Loss of 3,670 membership units and 35% of membership revenue to date. In 2020 we have endured a $1,500,000 loss in total revenue. A gift to the Y can hold our communities together. Give today at https://srymca.org/main/donate
Thanks to our amazing staff here at the Wilton branch we were able to send out almost 30 cards to Cards for Hospitalized Kids!! If you haven't sent one out yet there's still time to help brighten a child's holidays!
31 Days of Giving Challenge Day 9- Leave a handful of pennies heads up on a sidewalk for someone else to find! Remember the joy you felt as a child when you would find a penny heads up, thinking of ALL the good luck you were now going to have? This challenge will literally cost you only a few cents. I'm sure we all have a few pennies we can share to brighten someones day.
