St. Joseph's Church Camillus 10.02.2021

JOSEPH'S WORKBENCH, 2/7/2021 February 14th is World Marriage day. The theme is "Love One Another" from the commandment given us by Jesus in John 14. Loving one another is a daily decision--simple but challenging. This year, St. Joseph's would like to recognize couples that have been married for 25 years and 50 years or more. Please contact the rectory if you have celebrated either your 25th anniversary or your 50th or more so we can acknowledge your commitment to the sanctity... of marriage with a blessing at the end of mass on the 14th. It is great to honor people like the couples who are celebrating so many years of marriage. I am happy to also honor someone who has served the people of St. Joseph’s Church for almost 25 years. John Brace has been our head of maintenance since I was last assigned here. He has decided to retire and his last day was January 31st. That leaves Cindy Heath as the last of the Mohicans who was here during my first assignment at St. Joseph’s! John has faithfully kept the grounds, beautified our campus with the picnic deck, the prayer walk, berm plantings and other gardening features. This is not to mention the routine of cleaning, fixing, and attending to capital projects. John’s decorating for Christmas, climbing the upper levels of the church with trees and lights, setting up indoor and outdoor nativity scenes has given a real sense to all of us of how special that sacred season is. It is evident that John is a man who loves St. Joseph’s Church; the job was more than a paycheck. The staff honored him on one of his last days here with a certificate of appreciation from the Parish Council and his favorite treat, cherry pie! We hope to have a celebration with less restrictions and open to more people when the weather improves. Thank you, John, for your loving service. Enjoy your retirement travels, your grandchildren, and don’t be a stranger here at St. Joe’s. God bless you. Heart speaks to heart, Fr. Rob Hyde

Due to the pandemic, we were unable to present our Christmas pageant with our children this year at Christmas Mass. So for Epiphany Sunday, we thought we would share with you the pageant from Christmas 2019. Enjoy!

JOSEPH'S WORKBENCH, 1/3/2021 2020, as I’ve noted more than once, was an annus horribilis, Latin for a horrible year. Obviously, the coronavirus pandemic was the worst of the year. However, my experience of the year was that what really put the sting in the awfulness was the partisan intolerance. If we had been able to face this pandemic with some trust in each other and our government it would have still been a horrible year, but at least it would have drawn us closer togethe...Continue reading
