"In the US, we built this interstate highway system to allow passengers and trucks to do commerce and allow people to travel between state lines. But we haven't built an interstate highway system for fiber-optic cables, and that needs to happen," Stealth's CEO Shrihari Pandit said. "And until we do that, we will rely on companies like SpaceX to deliver a service reliably and more effectively to a wider range of people, where fiber simply could take decades to get deployed." #infrastructure #spacex #starlink #fiberoptic #Internet #Broadband https://www.businessinsider.com/spacex-starlink-unlikely-wi
Wi-Fi 6E will deliver fiber-like experience . . . Wi-Fi 6E refers to the ability for Wi-Fi to leverage the 6 GHz band for unlicensed Wi-Fi operation, and its biggest draw, according to Shrihari Pandit, CEO of Stealth Communications, is that these new, wider channels will allow for clean access. In other words, legacy Wi-Fi devices won’t be allowed to congest the newly opened channel, resulting in much faster connectivity speeds. With 6E, you can have fiber-like experience ...extended wirelessly. #WiFi6E, #fiber, #gigabit https://www.rcrwireless.com//wi-fi-6e-bringing-benefits-to
With millions of employees now working from home due to COVID-19, asymmetric broadband offerings are a choke point for some business applications, according to Stealth Communications' CEO Shrihari Pandit. #fiber #nyc #broadband https://www.fiercetelecom.com//stealth-ceo-asymmetric-broa?
Broadband Battle: Which Company Has the Fastest Internet in the U.S.? Could it be Fios? Comcast? You might be a little surprised. BroadbandNow also offers similar rankings of the fastest Internet service providers in the U.S., and the rankings are dominated by little-known regional providers. New York-based fiber provider Stealth Communications is #1, followed by Nebraska-based BWTelcom. Illinois' CTI Fiber is third, followed by Central New York's Clarity Connect and Tennesse...e's Ben Lomand Connect. That ranking was last updated in early April. #fiber #nyc #isp https://nationalinterest.org//broadband-battle-which-compa
This day (April 18), back in 1986: IBM First to Use Megabit Chip "Newspapers report that IBM had become the first computer manufacturer to use a megabit chip -- a memory chip capable of storing 1 million bits of information -- in a commercial product, its Model 3090. The announcement is heralded as a notable triumph for American computer makers, whose work had been perceived as having fallen behind that of the Japanese electronics industry."... https://www.nytimes.com//ibm-chip-inaugurates-the-era-of-t

Stealth Communications CEO: ‘network privacy concerns amid remote work are being overlooked’ Shrihari Pandit, CEO of Stealth Communications, believes that a big piece of the conversation about remote work is being overlooked: network privacy. I don’t hear a lot of people talking about the network privacy issue in terms of data collection, he told RCR Wireless News. For a long time, internet service providers have been trying to understand user habits when they’re offline..., when they’re online, where the data is going to and where it’s coming from. And they’re looking at ways to monetize it. Pandit said that with that type of data, providers have been able to build personal personas for each person who accesses the internet, which these days, is nearly everyone. But now, he continued, remote work is giving those providers a new visibility into a previously untapped set of habits. Now they can build a business persona attached to that subscriber, he explained. What the means is they can see how a business employee works, what services and technologies they use. They already know your personal trends, during the workday, they were missing data. And now they have it. https://www.rcrwireless.com//increased-network-privacy-con #WFH #COVID19 #Security #Broadband #Privacy
Stealth Communications has sold fiber broadband access to businesses in New York City for 25 years. CEO Shrihari Pandit told Motherboard that things could get rocky for residential users on lower quality connections. We anticipate the huge shift to working from home will quickly overwhelm the capacity of residential communications infrastructure, Pandit predicted. The upstream speeds of many U.S. cable and DSL connections are already fairly pathetic, Pandit said, making the...m ill-suited to many business use cases like cloud, VoIP, webinars and video-conferencing. Pandit added that cable systems share bandwidth via local nodes that could also face congestion on a neighborhood by neighborhood level. Most business ISPs are well-engineered to handle large volumes of traffic, he added. Residential ISPs on the other hand, will be hard-pressed to mitigate usage peaks. https://www.vice.com//experts-say-the-internet-will-mostly

3D Printing: Reshaping our Engineering Culture? Innovative applications of 3D printing are reshaping our engineering culture Stealth's CEO Shrihari Pandit speaks with Plastic Engineer on how 3D printing is used not only to fabricate solid objects, but also flexible products like fiber optics as well. 3D Printing in space is a game-changer for multiple industries, including telecommunications, says Shrihari Pandit. Fibers produced up in space have different optical properti...es that can result in a greater capacity to carry Internet and communications traffic. These space made fibers provide broader spectrum transmission and exhibits low propagation losses over distance: meaning fewer repeaters and equipment to regenerate the signal, which can profoundly impact subsea [and] land communications here on Earth. Our CEO, Shrihari Pandit spoke w/ Business Insider about LEOs, SpaceX and the future of connectivity: "They're definitely solving a void and bridging it. So it means we can choose where we want to live and work. Before, you would have to live where your connectivity is, because that's where the work is... We could see Silicon Valley moving into cornfields, essentially."
