A Message of Solidarity #blacklivesmatter ***Full Text*** On March 16th, we made the difficult decision to shutter our business for the health and safety of our team and greater community amid the Coronavirus Pandemic. The whole purpose was to stay at home because we value human life above anything else in this world. Prior to and during this pandemic, our nation has failed to value the lives of Black Americans. It is for this rea...son we stand in solidarity with the protesters in our city and around our country. It is our duty as fellow humans to stand in opposition to racism and other acts of hate wherever they occur as well as denounce racism in all its forms. It is with the same love that caused us to shutter our doors that we now speak out with outrage towards the cycle of violence perpetrated against Black Americans. Please know that Steeldeck NY’s stance is that Black Lives Matter. If you are upset, we support you. If you are angry, we support you. If you are protesting these injustices, we support you. If you are quiet and dealing with this collective trauma in your own way, we support you. The one thing we ask of you at this time is to please not forget the hard won knowledge and facts regarding how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. Wear masks, wash your hands, be as safe as you possibly can while supporting this movement in whatever ways you choose. As our governor likes to say, we are New York Tough. New York Fashion Week is here and Steeldeck NY is off to a running start with Nike 2020 Future Forum. We collaborated with the amazing team at KadaN Productions to build this stunning array (with the stellar assistance of the fabulous Local 1 Shed Crew). The mainstage, seating tier, and substructure are all #builtonsteeldeck. From our rental crew handling and tracking large amounts of equipment to our fabrication department creating custom platforms, we embodied the #justdoit attitude and the final result looked spectacular. Broadway is all a buzz about the premier of A Soldier’s Play. Directed by Kenny Leon, this powerful play about race and politics in America, is currently playing at the Roundabout Theater and features performances from acting legends such as David Alan Grier and Blair Underwood. We were delighted to have our staging system utilized during the rehearsal process and support such great talent. We would like to congratulate New York Theater Workshop on the reopening of the Truck and Warehouse Theater! Now with brand new Seating Risers by Steeldeck and Carnaby Chairs by Kirwin & Simpson. The space has hosted many great performances, but it was time for this 50-year-old theater to receive some extra love. Our fabrication team took a lot of time and care in the making of these custom Steeldeck risers and the installation of the brand new chairs.
