On Wednesday 14 October we keep the Feast of St Edward the Confessor (transferred) with a said in-person Eucharist at 6.15pm. St Edward, 11th century King of England, was a Christian ruler whose example of faith, humility, service to his people, and maintenance of peace, is an example to all those in power today, for whom, at this time especially, it is mete for us to pray. Here is the address given for St John's in the Village by the Precentor of Westminster Abbey from St Edward's Shrine there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZBYe16Md-g

If you missed Sunday's Eucharists (11 October) with our guest preacher Canon Suzanne Culhane, of the Diocese of Long Island, you can still view her homily and the whole Sung Eucharist here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2039xrDdqI&t=962s
Today is Indigenous Peoples Day and Columbus Day (known by various names in different nations in the Americas), marking the day in 1492 when Christopher Columbus made landfall on an island in what is now the Bahamas. Acknowledging both the good and ills which arose for Americans and Europeans alike in the centuries following this first contact (pace the Viking colony in what is now Canada) we offer Vespers in prayer for the indigenous peoples of the Americas in a form such as would be recognizable to Columbus and his men in the 1490s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFFMwe8TB20
This Sunday, 11 October, with October being the Month of Stewardship, we welcome as our guest preacher the Reverend Canon Suzanne Culhane, who is the Canon for Stewardship in our neighboring Diocese of Long Island. Tonight, Tuesday 6 October, being the first Tuesday of the month, we open our October exhibition in Revelation Gallery. Twenty-Twenty, new work by Joyce Rezendes, is a collection of acrylics on canvas (2'x2' and 3'x3') in singletons, diptychs, triptychs, and one quartet. There are still some places at tonight's opening from 7pm to 8pm. If you would like to attend, please email [email protected] before 5pm today. The show runs throughout October and usual opening hours are 11am... to 3pm Monday to Friday. Viewings are also possible following the 6.15pm in-person Eucharist on Wednesdays evenings and following the 8.30am in-person Eucharist on Sunday mornings. [November's exhibition, by Kazuya Morimoto, will have its 'opening' reception on Tuesday 10 November, because Tuesday 3 November is Election Day. The show will, however, be open to the public (at the usual hours) from Tuesday 3 November]
