SAINTS FIELD HOCKEY ACROSS THE DECADES Happy National Field Hockey Day SAINTS
HAPPY NATIONAL FIELD HOCKEY DAY.
As the SAINTS Field Hockey family, we stand together in our commitment to provide a safe, diverse and inclusive environment, with respect and dignity for all persons. We understand that it is vital to continue to gain a deeper understanding in order to support and address tangible social justice change. Fran Below is a letter from Director of Athletics, Bob Durocher... The St. Lawrence Athletic Department works hard to develop a culture of acceptance and understanding within all of our teams. But we are not immune to the events we see in the world around us. The St. Lawrence coaches and athletics staff are united in our despair over the death of George Floyd. We stand with those who are peacefully protesting racial injustice across this nation and throughout the world. Our student-athletes are feeling the pain of this moment, as well. And as is often the case in times of trial, our students are showing us the way forward through their activism and organization. Some of the captains and leaders on our teams have joined together to raise funds for the Black Lives Matter organization. We are proud to see our student-athletes rise to the occasion and support change. I want to conclude with a quote from Dr. Mark Emmert the President of NCAA: Sport historically has been a catalyst for social change and through our leadership and the way we treat one another, each of us can continue to make a difference. We must, therefore, commit ourselves individually and collectively to examining what we can do to make our society more just and equal. We have not done enough: we can do better. In partnership with you for a better place, Bob Durocher
