The staff at St. Mark’s and St. John’s is participating in the 21-Day Racial Equity Challenge and we'd love for you to join us! The Challenge is a powerful opportunity to collectively develop a deeper understanding of how inequity and racism affect our lives and community. Join us and more than 80,000 Rochesterians and 400 businesses participating in this challenge.

Join SMSJ in our EDEN gardens to get them ready for winter! We will be cleaning up the EDEN gardens this Saturday 10/10 and next Saturday 10/17. Coffee and donuts from 8:30-9 at the church (1245 Culver Rd Rochester, NY 14609) then socially distant work in the gardens from 9-12. Come one day or both! The church gardens are large enough that volunteers will be able to socially distance themselves from others. We invite groups and families to join us for this activity and encour...age everyone to wear a mask. Bring your own garden gloves if you have them. No garden experience necessary, just an enjoyment of being outside! If you aren't available either day, but would like to volunteer, please email Allison at [email protected] THANK YOU!

For those who live on Rochester's Pennsylvania Avenue (a couple miles from SMSJ) and in the city of Rochester... we are in this together, we love you and we're here praying (and working) for healing and restoration. Peace.

#DanielPrude A Reflection - Are you disgusted, angry, disillusioned by what we found out last night happened in our city back in March? Now is the time to be in the proverbial arena. We need meaningful financial, spiritual, emotional investment in our city neighborhoods that goes directly to residents. If you’re part of an organization (especially if you are a community of faith) that is drafting your 2021 Budget and talking about what your priorities are I invite you to be... part of a wave of real change. I put before you a challenge to take 15% of your budget and invest it directly into our poorest zip codes. At first glance it may seem like such an act is intended to elevate people out of poverty, which it certainly is, but just as important is how essential it is for our redemption. Could it be that God is actually present in the rumbling we feel under our feet - the rumblings of revolution? SMSJ has delivered emergency food to almost 1,500 people/families since March, which has been a profound honor... and we need to do more... food is not enough... God is calling us to go deeper in our commitment to be real, be healed and be love. I don’t believe God’s dream for the world will ever be realized if we sit back (complicit), ignore the rumblings and continue to simply ask What would Jesus do?. It’s time for us all to come down off the mountain, empty our hands and open our hearts - no excuses. It’s time to DO what Jesus would do! See more

Here is another garden video from the SOOP (Summer of Opportunity Program) interns! This is EDEN training garden, located on Denver St between Hazelwood Terrace and Melville St. The garden is #freetoall and anyone can harvest produce when it's ready! You can feel free to take a seat at the new picnic tables or on the new benches, and to admire the artwork that's in progress on the shed.
