Lord, increase our faith; that relying on thee as thy children, we may trust where we cannot see, ever looking unto thee as our Father who ordereth all things well; according to the word of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Today is the year’s mind of Bishop Isaac Lea Nicholson (1844-1906), fifth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee, from 1891 until his death, 29th October 1906 (buried at Nashota House). He was an ardent Anglo-Catholic and the first Bishop to join the Guild of All Souls, and served as President of the Guild from 1892-1895. His statue (marble) was placed in St Paul’s by the eighth Rector, Andrew Chalmers Wilson, who was ordained by him. Bishop Nicholson had a profound imp...act on the Anglo-Catholic movement in The Episcopal Church and held the life-long admiration and affection of Fr Wilson. The plaque identifies Bp Nicholson as a Glorious American Saint. When questioned about his authority to name Bishop Niholason a saint, Fr Wilson is reputed to have replied, He was the only bishop who would ordain me! Of your charity, please pray for the repose of his soul and for the Guild of All Souls. See more

Happy Wednesday! Listen to our organist, Nathan Taylor, play Herbert Howells' moving Psalm-Prelude, Set 1 No. 3, Op. 32: Psalm 23 Verse 4 "Yea, Though I Walk Through the Valley of the Shadow of Death".

We commemorate today Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. Pictured here is a rosary carved in the wood paneling of the Lady Chapel.

The people of St. Paul’s believe that institutionalized racism and racial injustice are social, moral, and Christian issues, and a part of the history of The Episcopal Church. In memory of our Black parishioners who kept St. Paul’s from closing in the 1980s and for all the people of this country who suffer and have suffered from racist policies and actions, we must act now for change. Our faith requires no less. Black Lives Matter.
