A beautiful day to be outdoors for the Blessing of the Animals! There was so much love in our courtyard today as we blessed lots of doggies, some cats & one guinea pig. It was wonderful meeting so many of our neighbors. Happy Feast of St. Francis!

Our first virtual Blessing of the Backpacks on Sunday! Vials of holy water & a branch from St. Peter’s garden were sent to all our students, teachers & all those heading back to school this fall. Special thanks to all who helped us with the blessing on our livestream & those who helped purchase 50 backpacks for the kids at Fulton Houses. Here’s the blessing if you weren’t able to join: Lord, we pray your blessing on all of our students as they begin this new schoo...l year. GUARD them, give them protection and safety under the shadow of your wings. STRENGTHEN them, give them courage to persevere in all they undertake. INSTRUCT them, give them inquiring minds and discerning hearts. DELIGHT them, give them the gift of wonder and joy in all things. BEFRIEND them, give them laughter and love to share with their fellow students. LOVE them, give them sure and certain knowledge of your unfailing love. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Lord, we pray your blessing on our teachers, parents, professors, administrators, campus ministers, campus employees, all those who lead and serve students: Anoint them for this ministry by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let them know your unfailing love and care for them as they seek to love and care for their students and children in this uncertain time. Give them strength, courage, wisdom and creativity as they navigate this unchartered territory. Surprise them with your joy in these unexpected times, that it may be the strength that energizes them. Nurture their compassion for the students under their care. Transform them as they help bring about your transformation in schools and universities across this city. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer. Hold up backpacks and sprinkle holy water: We bless these backpacks and bags and briefcases that will be carried to and from school every day, filled with books and pens and computers. May they be a sign to all gathered here that you go with them, and have given them everything they need to learn and grow in your love.
