SUEZ was thrilled to join Nassau County Executive Laura Curran to celebrate biological nutrient removal (BNR) at the Bay Park treatment plant. N is for Nitrogen, as Senator Chuck Schumer reminded everyone, and now there is much less of it going into the Western Bays which is a huge environmental win for all Long Islanders.

One of the final steps to commission the new main substation at Bay Park involves running the entire plant on the generators on the roof for seven full days. To be clear, all of our engines are working perfectly fine, this is simply a required test before these generators can be deemed fully operational and we can get rid of the temporary generators that haven been onsite since Superstorm Sandy. This will mark a new phase of operations at the plant. While the test, slated to ...begin on Monday, March 23 and last for seven days, will be temporarily inconvenient for the community, it will be beneficial long term for everyone. In the event that the generators experience a hiccup, the test will be aborted and will have to start over at a later date. If you have any questions about this test, please reach out to me at [email protected] or 516-401-5557 via phone or text. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to complete this necessary work. See more

Toilet paper may be hard to come by right now, but please do not flush anything else! Napkins, wipes and other paper products clog sewer pipes and should be disposed of in the garbage.
