"Derek Fordjour's year long residency at the Sugar Hill Children's Museum of Art & Storytelling in West Harlem introduced new ways of experiencing contemporary art to thousands of children and families from our community. We were restored by Derek's intellect, open mind and powerful heart, and he knows we all are cheering his remarkable success with love, trumpets and joy!" They keep telling me about how it’s a shame that Black parents have to have ‘the conversation’ with our children, how we have to explain if a cop stops you, don’t reach for the glove compartment, don’t talk back...Well, we’ve had the conversation for decades, It’s time we have a conversation with America Reverend Al Sharpton at the March on Washington, August 28, 2020
