October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. In honor of that GiGi’s Playhouse in Buffalo unveiled a brand-new mural. It showcases 21 butterflies (TRISOMY 21), the... symbol of Down Syndrome. They were created by Buffalo Gigi’s participants one of them was me standing next to the musical butterfly I painted with the note G sharp. An exceptional mural artist Julia Bottoms helped us with the painting and then transported on the back wall of Buffalo GiGi’s Playhouse. What a creative constant reminder to its viewers the beauty of the individuals born with Down Syndrome, who are like a CHRYSALIS in the form of a Butterfly before it gets his wings waiting to fly into a bright future. When returned home from the unveiling mural event I had to play my parents most favorite song CHRYSALIS as they always say Individuals born with Down Syndrome are like a Chrysalis holding back their beauty within their Cocoon until they get the chance to explore the world with their colorful wings that touch their Viewer’s hearts with JOY & LOVE. Thanks to the Buffalo Gigi’s Playhouse entire Team to make this Butterfly MURAL to raise Awareness about Down syndrome not just for the Month of October but year-round and for years to come.
