My Dear Facebook Friends, Many of you have come to know Dick Smith over the years. He is a five decade member of the Big Tree Volunteer Fire Company. He serve...d as Hamburg Town Councilman from 1972-1978. He was a dedicated and distinguished Superintendent of Highways from 1978-1995. Dick modernized that department, and made it a model of efficiency and quality services. He later was elected to the New York State Assembly where he served the people of Western New York as a tireless advocate for taxpayers in Hamburg and throughout Western New York. There has rarely been a problem that Dick failed to address. His entire adult life has been premised upon service to others. What a wonderful example he has set for all of us as we now celebrate his 80th birthday this April. Hang in there my friend. All of us who are privileged to know you wish you a joyful birthday, a Happy Easter and many more to come.
