While we'll never be able to forget Sandy's destruction, what I will always chose to remember and carry with me is how Long Beach came together as a community. ...From the countless, unspoken individual efforts to help our neighbors, to Project Pay it Forward, to Shine's Bar providing refuge, to SwingBellys BBQ and Sean Sullivan feeding the entire town Thanksgiving dinner, to Bryan Murphy and Douglas O'Grady leading the charge to gut out homes to the formation of what is now Project 11561 and so, so many others. What Sandy made clear is that Long Beach's greatest asset is not the beach, or the boardwalk or anything of that sort. It's our people. We're an amazing place, but that's mostly because we're an amazing community of amazing people. Be good to each other, Long Beach.
