**Note** Our campaign illustrations are based on the ACTUAL journeys of three REAL moms. Britt, Keyla and Laura are moms that bravely volunteered to share the...ir stories with us. We thank them for being vulnerable and sharing their truth. We are honored and touched they were willing to share such powerful moments with us. ********** While pregnancy is an exciting time for many women, not every woman enjoys pregnancy. For many women, it can be a scary, uncertain time with filled with unknowns, anxieties, doubts and fears. The unrealistic expectation that a pregnant woman is always excited sets her up to feel guilt and shame. Next time you see a pregnant woman, don’t assume that she is elated. Rather, ask her how she is feeling and how you can support her. Remember, maternal mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, and OCD **CAN** happen during pregnancy. You never know what a mom-to-be is hiding behind her mask of fake smiles. If you or a mom you know is struggling, ask her how she is REALLY feeling and let her know there is help available. Provide Postpartum Support International’s Warmline: 1-800-944-4773. Share this post if you want others to know that pregnancy isn’t always easy and MMH disorders are real #MakingOverMotherhood #MMHWeek2019 What was pregnancy like for you? Let us know in the comments below. ********** Spanish translation of illustration text: M: ¿Qué estaba pensando/sintiendo antes y durante mi embarazo? Translation Credit: Eugenia M. Rodriguez Soto

"Midwives are trained professionals who help women during pregnancy and childbirth. They may also help during the six weeks following the birth, which is known as the postpartum period. Midwives may also help with the care of the newborn. People have been practicing midwifery for thousands of years. They provide personalized care to new mothers in the home, hospital, clinic, or birth center."
