Over hundreds of thousands of years, humans evolved eating a nutrient rich diet of "wild" uncontaminated, whole foods. For example, the mineral intake of our Paleolithic ancestors was 2 to 8 times higher than it is today. The vitamin C intake was 6.5 times higher and vitamin E intake was 4 times ours today.
