We've got a full table of peaches available this afternoon! It's the best day so far in 2020. And they are all freestones. Look for the next two weeks to have more peaches available on a daily basis. Varieties: Ernie's Choice (Fred's favorite), All Stars, Beekman's and Flaming Fury... #tangoooaksfarm

PEACHES! Peaches are back on the stand for 2020. Although early varieties are really limited in quantity due to the loss from the May freeze. As usual, we are picking twice a day as long as the conditions allow it. The stand opens at 10AM daily and is open as long as the day's harvest lasts. We expect to have peaches into early September Current varieties: Early Star, Garnet Beauty

We'd like to thank everyone for your amazing support this year when we can't offer U-Pick cherries! And as an update we are selling out of the day's harvest by early afternoon so plan on arriving early. We also would like to remind some people that we appreciate it more when you leave some $ for the products we provide. The stand is open for dark sweet and white sweet cherries. opening at 9am daily. Price is $5 per quart - a quart weighs in at about 1.5 lbs.... #tangooaksfarm Photo by Phebe the Peach (and now Cherry) Maven

We've got cherries under the roadside tent. We're selling what we have by the quart at $5 per. Currently we have dark sweet cherries! We fill the stand each morning and are open from 9am until the day's harvest is gone. Look for white cherries to be available starting 7/5 #tangooaksfarm

Wickham's Tango Oaks Farm 2020 Cherry Harvest Information

Wickham's Tango Oaks Farm 02.08.2020

SAD NEWS! Unfortunately the freezes of May have left us with very few cherries. We experienced about a 95% loss on sweets and 99% on sours. This prohibits us from opening for UPICK Harvest in 2020. We will hopefully be able to put some cherries out on the fruit stand but even that is in question due to the the current weather and pest pressure. It is looking like we will have a limited amount of peaches available on the stand starting in late July. We will update you on t...hose when we get closer to harvest. #tangooaksfarm.

The farm experienced severe freezes three nights in a row, the week of May 11th. We had consecutive overnight lows of 30, 27 and 26 for extended periods of time. We know that the cherries, peaches and grapes were all impacted, but are still uncertain to the extent of the damage. We should know a lot more in a week or so. Please check back for an update in early June. #tangooaksfarm

Our Farmers - Fred Wickham Fred Wickham is FLX born and bred. Raised on the family farm in Hector, NY, Fred is a sixth generation farmer. His family is among so...me of the first families to settle along the Hector corridor at the turn of the 19th centuries. They began as fruit growers (mostly peaches and cherries) and expanded into grapes later into the 19th century. At its peak, the farm was over 800 acres dedicated to fruit and grape production. Fred never wanted to be a grape grower. Like so many in the Finger Lakes, Fred’s dreams and aspirations looked far beyond the town of Hector. At Syracuse University he studied art and design and originally pursued a career in marketing and design. When the time came to begin raising a family Fred returned to home to Hector and the farm. The current Wickham’s Tango Oaks Farm is round 80 acres of which 40 are farmed. Over the past 20 years the passion for farming has grown, and Fred’s children also now help on the farm, making them 7th generation farmers. Tango Oaks is a site with incredible soil, says Fred. We have mostly Lansing and Howard gravel over shale. Perfect for growing fruit of all kinds. We are very diversified with an equal emphasis on grapes, cherries and peaches. Tango Oaks also has one of the prettiest views on all of Seneca Lake. We are dedicated to providing great fruit. Our practices utilize a combination of common sense aged-old wisdom and proven cutting edge technology and techniques. We look to the land and the plants provide us with guidance. Most assume a grower’s favorite time of year is harvest. For Fred, it is spring! The rebirth, renewal, the possibilities of a new growing season, and of course the colorful transition from winter that includes all the cherry and peach blossoms. All signs that warmer weather is on its way! #flx #flxwine #myflxfamily
