Mask-making by Epatha: We recently received a note from our good friend & fellow quilter, S. Epatha Merkerson (https://tinyurl.com/y5pz2h9s). Epatha, as most of you know, is a renowned actress of stage, television & screen, and had a long-running role in the hit NBC series Law and Order and can currently be seen in NBC's Chicago Med. She had ordered some of our New York City prints and is busy making masks for friends and family. At our urging, Epatha sent us proof via the ...1st photo. The second photo is of her friend and fellow long-time Law and Order actress, Carolyn McCormick (https://tinyurl.com/y4tyy3v3), modeling one of Epatha’s gifts. Carolyn is also found in many other television series, as well as in film and on the stage. All of our non-New York fabric is $6.50 per yard (www.cityquilter.com), a great deal if you’re making masks in quantity. And for those special people in your life, treat them to a mask made from one of our exclusive New York City fabrics (https://www.cityquilter.com/nyc-fabrics.html). Proclaim your status as a New Yorker, or New York city-lover proudly! Our phone number remains the same as always: 212-807-0390 or mail us at [email protected]

Our CIty Quilter customer, Emma Guest-Consales, a NYC tour guide & sewer & her professional friend were featured in a local ABC-TV piece with masks using two of our New York-themed fabrics. Here is what she told us: "Hi there! I have been making masks using your fabric, with an inner layer of polypropylene (from reusable shopping bags). I did a segment with ABC7 news yesterday on tour guides in NYC with a tour guide friend, & we both were wearing masks made from your fabric! The skycrapers for him, GCT [Grand Central's Zodiac ceiling in aqua] for me." Check out our many New York fabrics: http://www.cityquilter.com

Cathy processes all City Quilter orders in less than two days, & mostly within one. Dale then bikes the orders to the Post Office late each afternoon, unless there's more than 8-10, in which case he drives the mile by car. Featured here is a mask made by Cathy from our own, exclusive "Statue of Liberty in Batik" fabric found via this link https://www.cityquilter.com/statue-of-liberty-batik.html

Well now that we’re all sheltering in place, we can turn to our sewing machines without guilt. I don’t know about you but many’s the time I would be sewing and realize that I should be starting dinner, or vacuuming the house. Guiltily I would sew on. Not any more. Actually I’m starting to feel a little guilty about how much I’m enjoying self- quarantine (I guess guilty is one of my natural states). In any case, it’s a great time for finishing projects or starting new ones.... If you're making masks, don't forget all our nonNew York fabric is $6.50 a yard (http://www.cityquilter.com ). And we do still have some batiks left which have the tightest weave of all our fabrics. Here is one made by the wonderful City Quilter teacher, Judy Doenias, with our own 100% cotton print, NYC Subway Map, which is also available in a white colorway. And here are the instructions Judy used: https://tinyurl.com/rj3992p Naturally, we encourage you to check out all our New York-themed fabrics: https://tinyurl.com/v4xe7mg if you haven't looked at them (over 26!) in awhile. Stay safe, Cathy

There are still 3 days left to take advantage of our year-end sale: All non-New York fabric is just $5.00 a yard until midnight, December 31! Check out The City Quilter's web site: http://www.cityquilter.com On the eve of New Year's eve, we thought you might enjoy watching our 2009 presentation of quilts in Times Square that served to promote our quilt show at the Williams Club as well as present quilts to the general public. The works displayed on the Panasonic 28' X 38' Astrovision screen: Camen Miranda by Judy Doenias; Key West Beauty by Anita Grossman Solomon; In our Time by Judy Doenias & Diane Rode Schneck; New York City Lights by Ellen Yamaguchi; and Batik Schoolhouse by Cathy Izzo.

HOLIDAY FABRIC SALE Now that Thanksgiving and Black Friday craziness is over, we thought we'd have a little sale of our own. Just to make it simple: we’re knocking $1.50 off all of our non-New York fabric per yard! That brings it down to $5.00 a yard, less than half of its original price! We still have classic Kaffe Fassett and Philip Jacob prints from Westminster, a little Lonnie Rossi, Victoria Findlay Wolfe, and some lovely batiks. So stock up on backings and borders a...t this great price. http://www.cityquilter.com And of course, we wish you wonderful Holidays and a Happy New Year! If you’ve ever been to Grand Central Terminal, you know that it is one of the city’s crowning jewels and if you’re anything like us, you marvel at it’s beauty every time you go. This year GCT is celebrating "40 Years Renewed, 20 Years Restored" (https://tinyurl.com/y84umg65). It’s hard to believe that only 40 years ago, this treasure was was almost destroyed. It took the devoted efforts of the Municipal Arts Society of NY and Jacqueline Onassis to stop that from happening ...and together they managed to raise enough money to restore it to its former glory. In honor of this anniversary, for the next month, The City Quilter will donate $1.00 for every yard sold of our Grand Central Terminal fabric to the Municipal Arts Society of New York. Please also know that we continue to be a licensee of the MTA for use of the GCT name and images used in the design of our fabrics. Yardage is available on 3 prints, Grand Central beige (https://tinyurl.com/ycfhwk4n), GCT Constellations beige (http://www.cityquilter.com/gct-constellations-beige.html), and GCT Constellations aqua (https://tinyurl.com/yb6uzbxf). Or you can buy one of our iconic Grand Central Pillowcase Kits (https://tinyurl.com/ybjw53e7) or Grand Central FQ Bundles (https://tinyurl.com/y7n6oqzj) If you are a long time City Quilter follower, you might remember the challenge we ran using our Grand Central prints for the Terminal's 100 year anniversary. Here is a link to our GCT Centennial Quilt Challenge photo gallery. (https://tinyurl.com/y9f5xtlc). If you've never seen these quilts before, prepare to be wowed.

We've also got a new Statue of Liberty surrounded by fireworks print which would be great to back our City Skyline fabric. I can't think of anything simpler to make with such a spectacular payoff. http://www.cityquilter.com/statue-of-liberty-fireworks.html Lots more NYC fabrics https://www.cityquilter.com including our exclusive State of Liberty in Batik http://www.cityquilter.com/statue-of-liberty-batik.html

It’s hard to believe but the summer is almost over. I know there will be few warm days still to come but the general trend is toward colder weather. It’s OK, I have tons of projects to keep me busy over the winter! One of the projects I'm definitely going to make is a quilt for a favorite cousin using this new NYC Night Skyline panel. It's a beauty. Because it is printed digitally, the pattern is crisp and the colors vivid. You can find the fabric here: http://www.cityquilter.com/Night-Skyline-Panel.html Find many other New York-themed fabrics, as well as other quilting prints at The City Quilter online: http://www.cityquilter.com

For all those Spring baby showers coming up, nothing could be easier to make than a baby quilt using our "NYC A to Z" panel fabric (http://www.cityquilter.com/nyc-a-to-z.html) Cathy’s made a new version for the latest addition to our family, Asher, and he seems to be enjoying it. The quilt is simply our panel surrounded by an inside solid border and then an outer border of our companion fabric, "NYC Tossed Alphabet" (https://tinyurl.com/y7ov7ytx). Cathy also used the alphabet fabric on the back and it’s adorable. Lots of letters and images to stimulate the imagination!

We have a new pillowcase kit made from our "NYC Line by Line" fabrics. The kit is available in either the "Day" or "Night" version. Since the fabrics are black and white, they have a very sophisticated feel. Naturally, these two classic City Quilter New York prints are also available on their own. https://tinyurl.com/yaxlyu4l https://tinyurl.com/y737orvk
