Hosted by Community Synagogue member, Stefanie Shulman, we are grateful to have this opportunity to learn from Janna Lopez, the author of "Me, My Selfie & Eye," a timely book written to encourage anyone in the throes of midlife identity confusion. Midlife can be seen as threatening and full of change. It’s often accompanied with a sense of loss which propels us into negative thinking. Janna points out that how we relate to ourselves is in direct relation to how we relate to ...others. Her advice is honest and insightful. Gritty, funny, genuine and full of heart, are just some of the adjectives used to describe her book. Janna Lopez joins us from Portland Oregon. Besides being a published author, podcast host, and creative writing teacher she is an enthusiastic tequila aficionado, 80’s-rock fan and most importantly the mother of two. Her background in publishing and her very personal writing technique has enabled her to help people make deep discoveries about themselves and help clarify the confusing nature of midlife identity. Open Minds is central address for life-long Jewish learning at The Community Synagogue. Programs include book discussions with best-selling authors, cooking programs, and study sessions. There is truly something for everyone and we hope you will continue to consult our website, www.commsyn.org/open-minds, to keep abreast of all that is happening. If you would like to purchase "Me, My Selfie & Eye," or any book featured in the JBC Author Series, you can do so by clicking on the purchase link on our website. In this way you will be helping our authors, and helping the Community Synagogue.
