Cantor Daniel Gildar, In Memoriam This is our first Thanksgiving Weekend in twenty-six years without the presence of the incomparable accompanist and peerless interpreter of liturgical music, Cantor Daniel Gildar. His passing is an irreplaceable loss for our community and the greater Jewish world. Danny was so disappointed that our annual Thanksgiving Weekend concert this year was canceled due to covid-19. In his words, our cantorial, choral, and liturgical program was simply... "the best" and a highlight of his calendar of countless performances. Through the years, over 50 of the world's leading cantors and synagogue choirs were given the distinct honor and privilege of being accompanied by the great master at The Hampton Synagogue. Many of these concerts were rebroadcast and televised around the world. As a recent example, we present, in his loving memory, a rendition of David Koussevitsky's classic "Ana Avda," in which Cantor Gildar accompanies Cantor Netanel Hershtik and The Hampton Synagogue Choir. It is a bitter irony to mourn his passing this Thanksgiving Weekend, when we would typically look forward to greeting him in our midst. I hope you "join" us beginning at 7:30pm tonight for the Westhampton Beach Community Thanksgiving Interfaith Service, an annual project of the Hamptons Interfai...th Council. I'm speaking, and Cantor Netanel Hershtik, Izchak Haimov, and the Hampton Synagogue Choir "contributed" several musical selections. All that in addition to the readings, reflections and music from across Westhampton Beach's many faith leaders and houses of worship. We had so been looking forward to hosting this year's live service for the third time, but, obviously, the pandemic has made that impossibe. Still, we're happy for the chance to host virtually in the spirit of community solidarity.

November is Jewish Book Month and, in celebration, our Summer 2020 Author Discussion Series will be televised nation-wide on JBS Jewish Broadcasting Service and globally online. The telecasts, 7:00pm on Wednesday evenings through the month of November, feature Daphne Merkin, Aaron Koller, Meryl Ain, and Esther Amini.
