I wanted to share a very inspiring and healing story of what I saw yesterday. A black Mom with two of her children (between 7-9 years of age) were on the edge of the crowd and the police came, they were in full gear and it was intimidating and I remember thinking to myself: Wow, what a show of force. The crowd was aware of their presence and the energy started to shift and I was like, here we go. A white officer was standing next to this family and the children were scared.... The Mom spoke to her children very loudly and said, "The police are not here to hurt us, they are here to protect us." I had so much respect for her, she not only settled her children but the crowd. The officer then started talking with the children to reassure them. This is how we heal, this is what needs to happen as a society and a people. I felt so much happened in this very short period of time and I left feeling so much hope. Together we can do this, not separate but together!
