Although the shift online in mid-March happened quickly, College staff and faculty graciously stepped up to the challenges of offering courses remotely. Professors reworked their in-person courses for delivery online while students worked to stay focused and connected as many returned to live with their families across the country. The disruption of COVID-19 presents an opportunity to re-examine and articulate the goals of the liberal arts college. By examining the history of college in America and the intrinsic value of classical learning, we hope to address why studying the liberal arts during a pandemic is not only a worthwhile activity, but a necessary one. Looking back at the 2019-2020 academic timelineOn August 12, 2019 we launched the Center for Hebraic Thought (@hebraicthought) in partnership with @thephilosproject. On November 3, 2019, our Women’s Volleyball team (@tkclions) won the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Conference Championship!! On January 25, 2020, students, staff, faculty, and alumni participated in the Sixth Annual King’s Day of Service. On February 22, 2020, Houses created a living diorama in response to the p...rompt, If you were making a museum of your House, what parts of your House’s history would you put on display? On May 5, 2020, faculty and staff created the first-ever digital yearbook for the #Classof2020, a gift to honor the seniors, their work, and their legacies at King’s. Published annually, Year in Review reflects on the milestones of the previous academic year. We praise God for His faithfulness to us, and we remember with gratitude how students, alumni, faculty, staff, and our donor community form a part of this ongoing story. In the 2019-20 academic year, The King’s College launched two academic centers: the Center for Hebraic Thought and the Center for the Study of Christianity and the Black Experience. Women’s Volleyball celebrated a fir...st-place finish within their conference; students created visual dioramas for a new version of the House History competition. Faculty earned honors and accolades for their research and writing, and published books with John Hopkins University Press, Harper, and more. This issue also includes four special features about some of the people who make up this community, and how they’ve responded to the demands of the COVID-19 pandemic. The King’s College is pleased to announce that Summit Ministries alumni who enroll at King’s are now eligible for an annual $1500 scholarship. Summit Ministries exists to equip and support the rising generation to embrace God’s truth and champion a biblical worldview. Standardized test scores are now optional for students applying for 2021 enrollment to The King’s College, making an education at King’s accessible to students who were unable to take the SAT or ACT due to COVID-19. Read more below:
