New at The Virtual Little 76 Days: A documentary, but also a chilling horror movie. On January 23rd, 2020, China locked down Wuhan, a city of 11 million, to combat the emerging COVID-19 outbreak. Set deep inside the frontlines of the crisis, 76 DAYS tells indelible human stories at the center of this pandemic. Assassins (A OTFF 2020 selection): A documentary, but also a tense twist-filled thriller. The audacious murder of the brother of North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong... Un in a crowded Malaysian airport sparked a worldwide media frenzy. At the center of the investigation are two young women who are either cold-blooded killers or unwitting pawns in a political assassination. Notes on Marie Menken (with community partner Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester): Marie Menken (1909-1970), one of New York's outstanding underground filmmakers, inspired and worked with renowned artists Andy Warhol, Stan Brakhage, Jonas Mekas, Kenneth Anger and Gerard Malanga and became known as "the mother of the avant-garde." Rent at thelittle.org. Bonus: Each rental helps support your friendly neighborhood Little. #TakeALittleBreak

Recommended popcorn pairing (Friday): Three new movies open virtually (76 Days, OTFF 2020 pick Assassins, and Notes on Mar...ie Menken with community partner Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester). View at thelittle.org. Recommended popcorn pairing (Sunday): A Charlie Brown Christmas (7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 on WXXI-TV), the Buffalo Bills game (guaranteed to be Uncut Gems-level tense, so you'll want some Little goods), and any movies you've been wanting to catch up on! A Little Extra: Episode 4 "If this ticket booth could talk" WXXI | #TakeALittleBreak
Change isn’t always foreshadowed, sometimes it arrives swiftly and unexpected. In 2020, we at The Little have become a little too well-versed in unexpected happenings. Here’s the latest: We will not be reopening on Friday, Nov. 6, as previously planned. Here's why: First off, thank you for your patience. Everything about this pandemic is difficult, stressful, and requires each of us to be flexible to any and all changes. One of the New York State guidelines for The Little to... reopen is that the percentage of positive results in Monroe County, over a two-week span, must be below two-percent. As of Nov. 4, Monroe County’s 14-day number is 1.9-percent. This unfortunately has been trending in the wrong direction for weeks. For the safety of our staff and guests, we’ve decided that with the county’s increase of positive COVID-19 tests this is not the right time to reopen. Additional note: We’ve been in touch with the Monroe County Health Department for guidance during this time. This news is disappointing, but for us, it’s the correct move. Again, we thank you for understanding and we will continue to be transparent with our status during this time.
Masks: Safe, Cinematic, and Essential #TakeALittleBreak #WearAMask
The music news you need: Danielle Ponder and her band, featuring Avis Reese, Derek Bennett, Levi Bennet, and Jonathan Schaeffer, kick off WXXI's new series shot at The Little's newly restored Theatre 1. HomeStage at The Little premieres Friday, November 6 at 8:30 p.m. on WXXI-TV.
A trio of films will headline The Little's reopening on Friday, Nov. 6. Tickets will go on-sale early next week. Kajillionaire: A comedy/drama/mega quirky film about family, relationships, and con artists. From writer/director Miranda July; starring Evan Rachel Wood and Gina Rodriguez, Richard Jenkins, and Debra Winger. Following: Christopher Nolan's first film (yes, Memento was his second movie). Glorious black-and-white noir about an unemployed writer who follows strangers,... hoping to meet inspiration. As you may expect, things go very for the young artist in this 70-minute twisty and dark thriller. TENET: Nolan's newest film, which is obviously about palindromes. The plot actually revolves around time inversion, and other mind-bending, yet mysterious, sci-fi ideas. John David Washington stars as Protagonist (which is undeniably cool). #TakeALittleBreak
We say goodbye to another legend. Rest In Peace, Sean Connery.
A Little Extra: Episode 3 The Sconces (a.k.a Light in the Little Theatre District) #TakeALittleBreak
REPRESENT and RIVER CITY DRUMBEAT exit The Virtual Little today (10/29). Pro-tip: Both films are good for three days after renting, so you can buy now and watch over the weekend Your portal to movies: thelittle.org/virtual-little
