For all of you self-empowered women out there...here is a perspective on where we are in terms of the stock market and investing...The last bear market was during the Recession of 2008 and 2009. Equity markets declined 57% over an 18 month period finally reaching a bottom in March of 2009. The recovery was slow and painful. It took until the first quarter of 2013 for he S & P 500 to recover back to its October 2007 high! The current market crash happened much more violently ...and the damage is far more reaching. The longest bear market was 61 months lasting from March 1937 to April 1942. The good news is that with each correction, the financial system strengthens. Psychologists refer to this as a rupture when it occurs in personal relationships. The benefits are profound. What is the take away from all of this? Patience and grounding.
