We strongly encourage you to get the vaccine when you have the opportunity. Dr. Quatela shares this patient's story: It's always amazing to me when someone comes to me who has had their nose done previously elsewhere. I can only imagine that it must take tremendous fortitude to trust someone else again. Such was the case for this patient who had her nose done 10 years ago. When she first saw me, she was nervous and had a lot of trepidation about doing it again. She had never been happy with the form and function after her original surgery all t...hose years ago. She had a persistently deviated septum, slight dorsal hump, and lack of tip definition, which I addressed with a revision rhinoplasty. It's always so rewarding to see the change from fear to confidence, and watch the feelings of distress melt away when the cast comes off. Dr. Quatela gives us insight into good candidates for rhinoplasty surgery and this patient's story: I always ask patients, "How long has your nose bothered you?" The most common answer is, "All my life." The wrong answer is two months. The patients who have a long-standing desire to change the shape of something that has bothered them for a long time breeze through surgery. The usual discomfort initially of not being able to breathe through the nose, the minimal pain, and... the necessity of wearing a cast are all minimized with the strong desire to have surgery. No one understands this better than this patient, who is a nurse. Her nose was overprojected with a slight dorsal hump. Reducing the projection and taking down the hump, in addition to narrowing the nose, went a long way in making the nose acceptable to the patient. She now loves her nose, and I love the fact that she is happy.
