Malcolm Mondays: A time of revolution
#Repost @_notprisons #GeorgeFloyd and all Black people taken from us too soon at the hands of white supremacy We say your name with power and dignity, and we fight for justice and transformation in your honor. Black lives matter!
I just don’t believe that when people are being unjustly oppressed that they should let someone else set rules for them by which they can come out from under that oppression.
Shabazz Saturdays: What are your wishes for the world?
Malcolm photographed by Alice Windom in Accra, Ghana in May 1964.
Malcolm delivered a speech entitled "Not just an American problem, but a World Problem." He touched on a variety of topics including Rochester's recent race riots and the mass media's depiction of African Americans, but above all emphasized the need to re-conceptualize the American civil rights movement as part of a global struggle.
As public schools across New York City begin in person learning, remember that they will still be facing a pandemic of their own: A segregated school system.
As long as the freedom struggle of the 22 million Afro-Americans is labeled a civil rights issue it remains a domestic problem under the jurisdiction of the United States, and as such, bars the intervention and support of our brothers and sisters in Africa, Asia, Latin America, as well as that of the well-meaning whites of Europe. But once our struggle is lifted from the confining civil rights label to the level of human rights, our freedom struggle has then become internationalized.
