WHEW! #SOSFEST DAY 2 IS IN THE BOOKS! Thank you to all of the amazing artists who performed today. Seeing the empty seats in venues like Ryman Auditorium and Ap...ollo Theater reminded us so much of the need to connect and celebrate music together. So far, with the help of Bud Light Seltzer and YOU, we’ve raised $1,182,000 for the NIVA Emergency Relief Fund, to benefit independent venues around the country who are at risk of closing their doors permanently. These are the places we go to come together, to heal, to celebrate. Don’t let them go away. We'll see you again tomorrow. #SaveOurStages

We just installed paintings in the windows of the Stanley Center for the Arts as part of our Art Walk in Utica, NY. These paintings feature a collaborative mural from the 2019 Levitt AMP Utica Music Series and an assortment of work by our agency artist, Sarah.

The effect COVID-19 has had on the world defies description and what we once knew to be an emergent situation, now seems to be insignificant in comparison. We, at The Stanley Theatre, long for the safe return to normalcy and the day we can, once again, gather as a community and enjoy the irreplaceable, beautiful experience that is live theatre. In order to do any of the above, the arts industry needs federal aid. The Situation: Later this month, Congress will vote on the Sav...e Our Stages Act and the RESTART Act. If passed, they will help ensure the survival of venues, theatres, and presenters across the United States. Without support from Congress, 90% of the National Independent Venue Association’s independent venues across America say they will be forced to close their doors. Not only would this devastate the arts industry and have a huge cultural impact, it would have a profound effect on local economies. A recent Chicago study estimated that $1 spent at a small venue resulted in $12 of economic activities for neighboring restaurants, hotels and retail shops. How You Can Help: Please take 2 minutes to lend your support, as our industry depends on it. We ask you to stand with The American Theatre Guild and contact your legislators. Click the button below for an easy form to fill out to write to your legislators to ask them to support the Save Our Stages Act and the RESTART Act. Two minutes of your time can help save the arts. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. We look forward to the day we meet again at the theatre. https://www.saveourstages.com/

The Stanley Theatre would like to ask everyone to take a moment to remember the lovely Ann Maycock, who passed away peacefully this past Tuesday. Ann dedicated much of her life to The Stanley Theatre, be it working in the Box Office and sharing her love for music and the arts with everyone who entered the theatre, or in her later years as one of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers The Stanley ever had. She will sorely be missed. We would also like to thank, from the bottom of our hearts, the many volunteers and strangers who have donated in remembrance of Ann Maycock. The Stanley Theatre is extremely blessed to have had the chance to know and love Ann. Her unwavering support of the arts, theatre and music will live on in The Stanley Theatre for decades to come.

What is a Soundstage? By definition, a soundstage is a soundproof building or room that is used for the production of theatrical, film-making and television productions. Essentially, it is the location where movies, television shows and other productions of the like are filmed and created!... And it just so happens that Utica's own Stanley Theatre meets all the Soundstage requirements! According to Utica Film Commissioner, Paul Buckley "With the promotion of the Stanley's Soundstage it will shed even more light on Utica as an affordable one stop production location and encourage film/TV makers to use Utica as their ‘Back Lot'" For more information, visit www.TheStanley.org!
