The risk for cataracts increases as you age, and certain health problems, like diabetes, can also increase your risk. If you’re worried about cataracts, ask us during your next eye health exam what you can do to lower your risk. #eyecare #eyes #optometrist #cataract

Did you know these facts about cataracts? You can get cataracts in one or both eyes, but they can’t spread from one eye to the other. By age 80, most people have either had cataracts or have had cataract surgery. Cataract surgery is one of the most common operations in the United States. #eyecare #eyes #optometrist #cataract

As we get into our "new normal", we wanted to share some things that we are doing to ensure that patients and staff are safe, such as new protective equipment and our new safety protocol. New Safety Protocol - Updated 5/11/2020 As a healthcare organization, the health of our patients, doctors, and associates is our top priority as we reopen to service your needs. As a result, we wanted to take the time to remind you of the precautions we are taking to ensure the entire Visi...on Center community is safe. What We Ask of You: If you are exhibiting signs of COVID-19 or if you believe you have been in contact with someone who may have been exposed, we ask you to reschedule your exam. Please come to your appointment by yourself or limit who comes with you to one person so we can adhere to CDC social distancing guidelines. If you need someone to bring you to your appointment, we ask that they wait outside or in their vehicle. Upon your arrival, if we cannot observe social distancing due to other patients, we ask that you wait outside and we will call you when ready for your appointment. We require that you wear a face mask and will ask you to sanitize your hands upon entry. Steps We are Taking to Ensure Your Safety: Staff COVID-19 Screening Before every shift all staff will be screened for COVID-19. Protective Equipment & Cleaning Supplies Our staff will wear masks at all times. Gloves are provided to staff and will be worn as necessary. Disinfectant hand sanitizer and wipes are available as well. COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire Anyone wishing to enter the office will complete a COVID-19 questionnaire. Those at risk of being infected will be asked to reschedule. Limiting Exams Per Hour Only 2 patients per doctor per hour will be allowed in order to perform a thorough cleaning after each exam. Cleaning of Equipment and Surfaces All equipment and surfaces will be cleaned after each exam. Patient Intake Forms In most cases, a link to complete Patient Intake Forms will be sent to patients before their appointment and should be complete prior to arrival. Limiting the Number of Patients Our office door will be locked in order to monitor the number of people in the office. We will be actively limiting the number of patients and exams to adhere to CDC social distancing guidelines. Frame Selection Safety Sanitized trays will be provided for patients to place frame selections. Our associates will disinfect all frames. Hand Hygiene Our associates will wash their hands for 20 seconds after every patient interaction. Hand sanitizer will be available for patients. Social Distancing We ask associates and patients to observe 6 feet social distancing whenever possible. We will continue to monitor CDC guidelines and make changes as appropriate to ensure the safety of the entire Vision Center community. See more
