While we’d much rather be on the beach, we are still working out together three times a week. Gives us accountability, camaraderie and of course a short, sharp workout to start the day. I’m hoping as things gradually get moving again we’ll be in a strong position to be back quickly given that we’re outside and can easily socially distance. However, I might have to limit numbers so message me so you’ll be on my sign up lists. Or in the meantime, message me if you’d like to join our Zoom workouts, M/W/F, 9.30-10am. $10.

The first step to sticking to your resolutions is to visualize the future. It can be positive visualization or negative, or I like to do both. Imagine the beach holiday you’re planning if you don’t establish and stick to an exercise regimen and healthy eating habits...and then imagine if you have achieved that. How much better you’ll look and feel, the amazing clothes you’ll be packing, and no last minute desperate, miserable, fasting trying to cram three months healthy habi...ts into five days. Imagine yourself at the end of January if you’ve stuck with a plan. How proud of yourself you’ll feel. This is how your calendar could look if you commit to Thryve. Those big Xs are the days you came to class. You’ll have worked out 4 days per week for a month! And those will be great, effective, efficient workouts. Just show up and do as you’re told! The session starts January 7th, but we will hold a FREE bonus class on Friday January 4th, if we have enough takers. RSVP right now and put it in your calendar!

I’m often asked this so thought I’d clarify. You do not have to sign up for the whole session to come along to Thryve. Once a week is perfectly fine and a great complement to your fitness routine. For example, if you’re a runner, once a week at Thryve will improve your strength and protect you from injury. If you love the Y, come to Thryve once a week for your outdoor fix and all the benefits that come from being by the sea. - Classes are M/W/F/S, 9-10am. Pick a day to Thryve as part of your Fall Fitness resolution and stick to it! Drop-in rate is $25.
It was a foggy, chatty class today. If you have a disc like this, try doing your upper body work while kneeling on the disc. You’ll feel your core engage immediately. We like a double whammy workout! Fall session starts properly on Monday. Call me on 914 473 3790 for details.

Since we relaunched as Thryve we’ve been taking a couple of minutes at the end of class just to be...mindfulness, meditation, prayer...however you want to use those moments. Today we had a short, fast last run of the day and then focussed on our heart rate and breathing, noticing it coming back to normal, ready for the stretching section of class. And this was my view. When your personal training client is up for a Monday morning laugh, and you get the perfect video, even with a butterfly first time! When interviewing a new personal trainer ask if they have a hippity hop! One-to-one training is great when you find a great dynamic and rapport, but it should always be FUN as a starting point! Lots of single leg drills today (and all week actually). Clearly all your weight through one leg is a simple way to increase load for strength, but it’s a great balance and coordination and therefore core challenge too. It’s ideal weather to work outdoors! Couldn’t resist a Boomerang of the hoppers. The main focus today was FUN! Any DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) from the strength work we did will be a bonus. In the moment, it was fun and invigorating, never grueling or punishing.

This is my 10th spring of leading outdoor fitness classes. I’m often asked if we go through the winter. Yes we do and January through March are fine. It’s April that can be the worst, when you really want it to be Spring but it hasn’t come yet! I was feeling a bit like that this morning. I’m excited to be leading classes under our new brand Thryve (and they are FREE for the next two weeks!!), but dismayed that the temperatures aren’t feeling like Spring. However, it sounds, smells and looks like Spring out there, so let’s embrace that! Contact me to find out about our FREE two week program!
