While the number of deliveries increases during the holidays, package theft is a pervasive issue throughout the entire year. We have received a few recent reports of community members having their packages stolen from their front porches. The Sheriff's Office would like to remind the public of a few tips: - Have your package delivered to your work.... - Have your package delivered to the home of a relative or friend you know will be home. - Ask you neighbor to grab your packages. - Have your package held at your local post office for pickup. - Get a P.O. Box at your local post office. - Take advantage of "Ship to Store" or "Curbside Pick-Up" options that many stores offer. - Set up notifications to track your package. - Request that your package has signature confirmation upon delivery. - Ask your carrier to place package in an area out of plain view. Deputy Owen and Deputy Sotir helped deliver Cops, Kids, & Toys gifts yesterday to the families who are under quarantine. Today is the program's delivery day. We had a great turn out for the Fill the Trunk event for Cops, Kids, and Toys at the Ithaca Walmart yesterday! If you weren't able to make it to the event, there are multiple toy drop-off locations in the community. One of them is located at the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office.
